3rd Digital Tamil Studies Symposium – University of Toronto

In celebration of Tamil Heritage Month last month, the Tamil Academic Journal had the opportunity to present their work at the University of Toronto Scarborough’s 3rd annual Digital Tamil Studies Symposium. On behalf of the TAJ team, editorial board members Ambihai Akilan, Harikesan Baskaran, and Sriniti Srivathsan discussed how academic journals function as an archive and how TAJ challenges traditional publication norms, including our decolonization initiatives such as compensation schemes, mentorship, and non-traditional publications.

Our sincere thanks to the Digital Tamil Studies team, Natkeeran Ledchumykanthan, and the University of Toronto for this opportunity. Be sure to check out the other presentations on Tamil Large Language Models and archival practices on the Digital Tamil Studies website.
